Costa Rica, a country in southern Central America, lies between Nicaragua and Panama. It has coast along the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Costa Rica, which means “Rich Coast” in Spanish, is also sometimes referred to as “The Gold Coast.”

Guanacaste Province, which is the most sparsely populated of all the provinces of Costa Rica, is one of the most popular areas in Costa Rica for vacationing and finding a great investment in Paradise. It is located in the northwestern Pacific side of Costa Rica. Liberia is the Provincial Capital. Guanacaste is famous for its Sunshine and sand and that’s what visitors find along its more than 200 km of coastline. Some the most beautiful beaches are nestled in this paradise. Pristine beaches, rocky points, surrounded by tropical dry forest and animals that dominate the environment harmonize with modern hotels, gourmet restaurants, and the enjoyment of sun and beaches.

Costa Rican forests are replete with rich stands of the ebony, balsa, mahogany, cedar and more than 1000 species of orchids. There is abundant wildlife which includes puma, jaguar, deer, monkeys and at least 600 species of birds. Costa Rica’s land is protected by one of the most ambitious conservation programs in Central America.

Costa Rica has not had a military sense 1948 and it invests those defense dollars into improving standards of living of their people.

Guanacaste’s climate and culture are unique among Costa Rican provinces. The province experiences little rain and consistent heat from November to April. Tourists seek out this dry heat during the North American winter to enjoy the breathtaking Guanacastean beaches. Guanacaste is, however, considerably warmer than provinces residing in higher elevations.

Costa Rica’s seasons are defined by how much it rains in a particular season. There are two periods: the dry season is December through April and the wet season is from May through November. In the beach area of Guanacaste province a typical day in the wet season is sunshine until mid afternoon and then scattered showers. Some days there is no rain, other days a rain may last longer.

The Liberia International Costa Rica Airport is located in Liberia about 20 minutes from several beaches. The airlines which service this airport include U.S. Airways, Continental, American Airlines, Delta and United. Many of these airlines offered direct flights to Liberia. Example: U.S. Airways Direct from Charlotte, North Carolina (3 1/2 hours), American, direct from Miami, Delta, direct from the Atlanta and Continental has direct flights. Take a short flight from Liberia to the capital, San Jose, for $44 on Natures Airlines. Free pickup from Liberia airport to the beaches is vailable. Ask for details.
